EsseNTIAL over Excess
In a previous article we discussed how there are periods of life we benefit when we choose to do pursue something greater than ourselves. In this article, the reverse suggestion is offered, only as a focal point, not as the entirety of life, because we must keep balance with our responsibilities. At times we have an overwhelming amount of commitments in much of the Western world, and at other times we have so little to do, or going on that it may be underwhelmingly depressing or boring. Once again, the key sought is for balance.
If we are on the busy side where so much of life or our routine is rushing by us while we are numb or not fully appreciating it, then it may certainly be a good time to pause and inquire if we can simplify things.
To simplify, we simply need to take away the inessential and excess things or goings on. This is asking what we really would benefit saying no to or doing less of. Really, really, consciously think about it. The things that are essential you can also see deeper why they are so important to you.
There are many training programs with limited movements in them, and to repeat them montonously, harder, more, heavier, we eventually hit a plateau. Organic life is meant to master something, encounter a challenge, and face a mutative, changing evolutionary moment. This happens in a wild and non-linear way, which is often contrary or seems so, to a Westernized mind and human.
If we pause and evaluate our progress and intention at a natural challenge or plateau, we can more accurately adapt to the situation at hand. There is never 100% preparation because life has many unknowns, but it does follow this evolutionary pattern. Things get better, but there are still challenges aplenty.
The Gene Moves Methodology is flexible: we follow the naturally shifts in our physical and mental curiosity to move by Exploring the Envirionment, Expanding Strength, Mobility & Skills, and by Expressing the Body. There can always be a program, a plan, an intention, and times without that, but we will deviate and settle at what helps us grow the most at each given part of our lives. If you are looking to be more flexible, creative and intuitive in your training, then stick around and find the principles of your practice that you can stay consistent with.
