Motions of the day - Tempo.2
Are you hurried, anxious, frustrated, or perhaps tired, depleted, uninspired or worried? Maybe you’re going to the gym or taking daily walks, or not moving much through the week? Maybe you do feel good, but you’re still a little dissatisfied with your results or progress of late? Either end of the spectrum here, when we notice a legitimate issue with how we are working and living, we can come back to considering if our pacing, our rhythm, our TEMPO of doing and being is off.
The first and foremost place with an emotional, mental and physical issue that may immediately assist us is the tempo of our BREATH. When focused on harmonizing the pace of our breathing, even amidst stressors, we will find some relief in the breath itself. A moment of deeper breathing amidst the physiological reactions to any stress will give you the positive feedback of at least some increase in clarity, energy, peace, potential solutions or the renewed sense of moving thru the current obstacles we face.
Breathing and clear thinking alone does not solve issues, but it prepares the way to solve issues in an empowered manner. Instead of putting a timer on or counting breaths, I invite you to simply notice 4 things:
How does the breath feel when stressed and unaware?
After you are aware of the breath, how does it feel when you prioritize breathing that feels relaxed, even just a little bit?
What issues are you stressed about and what solutions come to mind - do you need more time to get clear on that or can you act on those solutions today?
Do you remember how it felt, and even how breathing felt when you were most empowered, happy, strong, supported by life and purposeful?
Correct the tempo of your breath today by making time to feel, think, and act as necessary here.
If you don’t have a clear action and solutions today, then at least write about this experience.
Give yourself a few minutes today and come back to it again tomorrow.
